At €1,600, this sits well below the €2,061 median and comfortably under the €2,583 75th percentile, so it reads as a solid buy rather than a stretch. It’s above the €1,289 25th percentile, but still cheap enough to look attractive for a clean, desirable listing.
The Xen has a strong reputation as a compact, high-end monitor: lively, detailed, and surprisingly full-bodied for its size, with the kind of finesse that rewards good partnering gear. In excellent condition, the main upside is getting a respected, less-common speaker without paying top-of-market money; if the stands, grills, and original packaging are included, that only strengthens the case.

Leema Acoustics emerged in 1998 from the Welsh town of Welshpool, founded by former BBC engineers Lee Taylor and Mallory Nicholls, whose expertise in sound reproduction fueled a passion for pushing audio boundaries. Their debut, the Xen micro-monitor speakers, set the tone by delivering outsized performance from compact designs after years of rigorous research. Transitioning from loudspeakers to electronics, the duo leveraged their technical prowess, partnering with veteran manufacturer Davtec to handcraft products entirely in Wales using UK and European components.
The brand focuses on high-quality hi-fi separates, excelling in integrated amplifiers like the award-winning Tucana series, CD players such as the Antila and forthcoming Electron, digital-to-analogue converters, and phono stages. Early innovations in speaker design evolved into a three-tier lineup emphasizing robust build, precise sound reproduction, and cutting-edge features, with recent expansions like the 25th-anniversary Quantum range underscoring ongoing refinement.
Positioned as a boutique high-end contender among British hi-fi marques, Leema earns acclaim for meticulous engineering and musical excellence, appealing to discerning audiophiles and professionals. Handmade in limited runs, its products blend aesthetic appeal with top-tier performance, securing awards and a foothold in markets from the UK to the US, where they stand out for uncompromised quality in a crowded field.
