Seller's Description

TASCAM CD-A500 Stereo Compact Disc CD Player/Reverse Cassette Deck TESTED ✅Player is in excellent used condition, having been fully tested by myself personally. Unit is able to probably track and play any CD or cassette tape that is loaded into it, while showing no incongruities in playback quality that can note. I even tested the CD dubbing function, and was able to record from a disc onto a cassette tape. All buttons along the face are appropriately responsive to their designated action, display screen shines brightly when the unit is in and running, and power chord is void if any tears or frays along the length of the cable.Player is in great shape cosmetically, showing only some signs of age-related wear around the exterior. No notable points of damage inflicted along any edge or face of the units metal housing or front display. Unit does not include any remote control, but will be shipped with a set of stereo L/R RCAs as shown in the listing images. See all pictures closely for details of condition, and specifications of the item. I specialize in shipping electronics such as this, and can guarantee that every precaution will be taken to ensure safe delivery of your purchase. Our Thoughts RADAR AI

US$299 is ambitious versus the recent used market; it sits well above the US$250 75th percentile and far over the US$200 median. That’s not an automatic no, but it asks for stronger proof of condition, service history, and included extras than the average listing.

The appeal here is the format: a rack-friendly CD/cassette combo from a respected pro-audio line, with the cassette side and CD side both useful if you want one box that covers a lot of listening formats. For a clean, original-owner unit with a remote, manuals, or documented testing, the premium can make sense; without those, buyers should expect to negotiate.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Tascam

Tascam is a Japanese professional-audio brand whose roots trace back to TEAC, founded in 1953 by the Tani brothers. The TASCAM name emerged in the late 1960s as TEAC Audio Systems Corporation, and it was formally established in 1971 as TEAC’s U.S. distribution and development arm for recorder products aimed at musicians and studios.

The brand is best known for recorders, mixers, field recorders, multitrack production units, audio interfaces, and related studio gear. Its catalogue has historically centered on practical recording tools rather than lifestyle hi-fi, with strong associations to cassette Portastudios, reel-to-reel machines, and compact pro-audio components.

In the market, Tascam sits in the pro-audio and project-studio space rather than the high-end audiophile tier. Its reputation is built on utility, durability, and value, and some vintage models have become collector favorites, but the brand is not typically positioned as a boutique or luxury hi-fi name.
