Are you buying a complete, tested package, or just the amplifier? At US$215, this is a fair-to-high asking price, not a bargain: your comparable listings put the median at US$123, with 75% at or below US$233. It sits well above the lower quartile of US$69, so the price needs to reflect excellent condition, proper accessories, and confirmed operation.
The TA-2 is a useful, compact heart for compatible Bose Built-Invisible/Lifestyle systems, with remote installation and the convenience of driving the matching Acoustimass setup out of sight. Comparable asking prices commonly appear around US$80–US$115, making US$215 sensible only if it is fully tested and includes the correct power supply, control hardware, and proprietary cabling. Without those essentials, negotiate firmly; around US$125–US$150 would be more compelling.

Bose Corporation traces its roots to 1964, when MIT professor Amar Gopal Bose founded the company in Natick, Massachusetts, after growing disillusioned with the poor performance of a high-end stereo system he purchased as a graduate student. Driven by a passion for replicating the immersive qualities of live music through rigorous acoustic research, Bose launched the venture with initial contracts for the U.S. military and NASA, emphasizing innovative speaker designs that prioritized indirect, reverberant sound over direct radiation. This American heritage, rooted in psychoacoustics and engineering excellence, has defined the brand's pursuit of "Better Sound Through Research."
Bose excels in consumer and professional audio categories, renowned for its home audio systems, premium speakers like the iconic 901 Series, and pioneering noise-canceling headphones first prototyped in the 1980s for pilots. The lineup extends to vehicle sound systems, portable Bluetooth speakers, and professional installations, but steers clear of niche hi-fi components such as amplifiers, turntables, DACs, or cables, focusing instead on integrated, user-friendly solutions that blend advanced signal processing with spatial audio reproduction.
Positioned as a premium mid-tier powerhouse in the global market, Bose commands widespread appeal among discerning buyers seeking accessible high-performance audio without audiophile esoterica. Its reputation for innovation and reliability has built a loyal following, though purists occasionally critique its measured sound signature, cementing Bose as a dominant force in mainstream hi-fi rather than high-end boutique or vintage realms.
