Seller's Description

Leema Acoustics Tucana ii Integrated Amplifier (Solid State) Selling my Leema Acoustics Tucana ii as I am looking to switch to up tube amps. 150w/c @ 8 ohms 290w/c @ 4 ohms 320w/c @ 2 ohms This amp is in 9/10 mint condition, and has been very well looked after. I am the second owner, the first was an elderly couple that enjoyed classical on their high end speakers. It has never been driven hard and performs flawlessly. Comes with remote. I would describe the sound out of this amp as incredibly clean and completely unbiased. It does not add a large amount of color and so let's you hear exactly

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

At A$3,800, this Leema Acoustics TUCANA in like-new condition is a fair deal, sitting just below the median of A$3,874 for recent comparable listings. While not a bargain below the 25th percentile (A$3,430), the price reflects solid value for a well-regarded integrated amplifier that delivers ample power (150Wpc into 8 ohms), excellent transparency, and clean sound across the audioband. As the Tucana II has been replaced by newer variants, this listing offers timely access to a high-performance Class A/B design without the premium of the Anniversary Edition (A$13,500).

This is a worthwhile buy for enthusiasts seeking UK-built reliability and neutral timing, especially given the original-owner condition and mint build. The amp’s ability to handle low-impedance speakers down to 2 ohms and deliver over 50A output current adds meaningful upside for demanding systems. With no common failure points noted for this model and accessories likely intact, the clean listing at a fair price makes it a genuine buying opportunity rather than a caution.

About Leema Acoustics

Leema Acoustics emerged in 1998 from the Welsh town of Welshpool, founded by former BBC engineers Lee Taylor and Mallory Nicholls, whose expertise in sound reproduction fueled a passion for pushing audio boundaries. Their debut, the Xen micro-monitor speakers, set the tone by delivering outsized performance from compact designs after years of rigorous research. Transitioning from loudspeakers to electronics, the duo leveraged their technical prowess, partnering with veteran manufacturer Davtec to handcraft products entirely in Wales using UK and European components.

The brand focuses on high-quality hi-fi separates, excelling in integrated amplifiers like the award-winning Tucana series, CD players such as the Antila and forthcoming Electron, digital-to-analogue converters, and phono stages. Early innovations in speaker design evolved into a three-tier lineup emphasizing robust build, precise sound reproduction, and cutting-edge features, with recent expansions like the 25th-anniversary Quantum range underscoring ongoing refinement.

Positioned as a boutique high-end contender among British hi-fi marques, Leema earns acclaim for meticulous engineering and musical excellence, appealing to discerning audiophiles and professionals. Handmade in limited runs, its products blend aesthetic appeal with top-tier performance, securing awards and a foothold in markets from the UK to the US, where they stand out for uncompromised quality in a crowded field.
