Our Thoughts RADAR AI

Recent comparable used listings for Adelaide Speakers floorstanders show a median asking price of AUD 1,392, with the 25th percentile at AUD 248 and 75th at AUD 5,858—a broad spread reflecting condition and local demand. At AUD 1,600 for this Ascension 2103ASMTL pair in unknown condition, it's sitting ambitious right above median, more fair if pristine but a pass unless heavily negotiated or verified excellent.

Buyers, prioritise a close listen for driver issues—these older designs can suffer foam surround rot or tweeter distortion from age. Confirm original grilles, spikes, and any damping sheets are included, and probe the seller on usage history to dodge hidden recone jobs.

About Adelaide Speakers

Adelaide Speakers is an obscure Australian hi-fi brand with limited verifiable public information available. While South Australia, particularly Adelaide, has earned a reputation as a hub for high-quality speaker manufacturing—home to established names like Krix (founded in 1974 by electronic engineer Tony Krix), VAF Research (established in 1978 by Philip Vafiadis), and Kyron Audio—no confirmed details emerge on Adelaide Speakers' founding year, specific founder, or precise heritage beyond its base in the region. A website claims it develops hi-fi and home theatre speakers in South Australia to high standards of sound reproduction, accessible across budgets, but lacks deeper historical or biographical substantiation.

The brand appears focused exclusively on speakers for hi-fi and home theatre applications, emphasizing precise sound reproduction without mention of amplifiers, turntables, DACs, headphones, or cables in available sources. This aligns with Adelaide's broader ecosystem of speaker-centric firms producing systems for discerning home cinema and music listeners.

In the market, Adelaide Speakers occupies a niche boutique position among South Australia's audiophile-grade offerings, listed alongside premium marques in enthusiast compilations, though it remains lesser-known compared to Krix's cinema dominance or VAF's handbuilt legacy. Its emphasis on quality at varied price points suggests appeal to knowledgeable buyers seeking local engineering excellence, but without robust reviews or sales data, its reputation stays unproven.
