Compared with generic wired in-ears at €90, the Bose QC20 is the more compelling buy if commuting or flying is the priority. €90 is exactly the recent median for comparable listings—fair rather than a bargain—and it remains well below the 75th-percentile €94, so the excellent condition supports the price rather than making it ambitious.
The QC20’s real strength is unusually effective active noise cancellation in a comfortable, compact wired design, with Aware mode and very little sound leakage. They remain particularly useful for aircraft and public transport, where their noise reduction can outperform many newer budget options. The material caveat is age: the sealed rechargeable battery is not readily user-replaceable, so confirm that ANC runs reliably for a useful session, charging works normally, and the inline module shows no damage.

Bose Corporation traces its roots to 1964, when MIT professor Amar Gopal Bose founded the company in Natick, Massachusetts, after growing disillusioned with the poor performance of a high-end stereo system he purchased as a graduate student. Driven by a passion for replicating the immersive qualities of live music through rigorous acoustic research, Bose launched the venture with initial contracts for the U.S. military and NASA, emphasizing innovative speaker designs that prioritized indirect, reverberant sound over direct radiation. This American heritage, rooted in psychoacoustics and engineering excellence, has defined the brand's pursuit of "Better Sound Through Research."
Bose excels in consumer and professional audio categories, renowned for its home audio systems, premium speakers like the iconic 901 Series, and pioneering noise-canceling headphones first prototyped in the 1980s for pilots. The lineup extends to vehicle sound systems, portable Bluetooth speakers, and professional installations, but steers clear of niche hi-fi components such as amplifiers, turntables, DACs, or cables, focusing instead on integrated, user-friendly solutions that blend advanced signal processing with spatial audio reproduction.
Positioned as a premium mid-tier powerhouse in the global market, Bose commands widespread appeal among discerning buyers seeking accessible high-performance audio without audiophile esoterica. Its reputation for innovation and reliability has built a loyal following, though purists occasionally critique its measured sound signature, cementing Bose as a dominant force in mainstream hi-fi rather than high-end boutique or vintage realms.
