With condition listed as “USD,” the price is hard to judge without knowing whether that means clean, tested, or merely unspecified. Still, USD 400 looks fair for the original Bel Canto DAC 1—not an obvious bargain, but comfortably defensible if it is working properly and complete. It is an early-2000s 24/96 design, so don’t confuse it with the newer DAC 1.5.
The appeal is its unusually musical, smooth presentation, solid Burr-Brown PCM1704 conversion, coaxial and optical inputs, and genuinely good analog output stage. It remains a nice CD-focused DAC for a relaxed, non-clinical system, particularly via coaxial input. Before buying, confirm that both digital inputs lock reliably, the RCA outputs are quiet, and the power supply is healthy; at this age, testing matters more than cosmetic originality. A remote is not normally central to this model, but the correct power cord and proof of operation strengthen the deal.
Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.
