Our Thoughts RADAR AI

Excellent condition is exactly what you want with a vintage speaker, and at €100 this is a fair-to-slightly-strong price rather than a bargain. It sits just above the recent comparable median of €98 and barely exceeds the €99 upper quartile, so value depends on the condition genuinely matching the description.

The LE 250 is a compact German two-way from the 1970s, appreciated for its neat build, lively presentation, and unusually capable bandwidth for its size. It is an easy fit for modest systems, though its 4-ohm load and roughly 25-watt rating suit sensible amplification rather than brute force. Before buying, confirm both woofers and tweeters play cleanly, the cabinets are sound, and the original grilles or mounting hardware are included; otherwise, €100 becomes merely average.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Canton

Canton traces its roots to 1972, when four hi-fi enthusiasts—Hubert Milbers, Otfried Sandig, Wolfgang Seitkritt, and Günther Seitz—founded the company in the small German town of Weilrod, near Frankfurt. Registering the name as a blend of the Latin "cantare" (to sing) and German "Ton" (musical tone), they began operations in a repurposed village schoolhouse with 35 employees assembling speaker enclosures. Still family-owned and led by descendants like Günther Seitz, Canton embodies enduring German engineering precision, manufacturing primarily in Niederlauken and Weilrod.

The brand focuses squarely on loudspeakers, offering over 300 models across 12 series tailored to diverse budgets, room sizes, and applications—from compact bookshelf designs and the pioneering 1979 sub/sat system to high-end Reference lines and wireless innovations. While speakers dominate, Canton also produces complementary hi-fi components, blending traditional cabinetry with digital amplification advancements, all subjected to rigorous quality controls.

Positioned as a mid-to-high-end mainstay in the global hi-fi market, Canton commands respect for its "pure music" philosophy, exporting to 53 countries with a reputation for reliable, elegant performance that appeals to discerning buyers seeking value without compromise. Independent of corporate conglomerates, it remains a smart, appreciating investment for audiophiles valuing Made-in-Germany craftsmanship.
