At €100, this is a fair buy for a Bose Lifestyle 2 subwoofer, landing exactly at the median of nine recent comparable listings. It is comfortably within the normal market band of €79–€127: not a bargain, but certainly not overpriced if it is genuinely in good working and cosmetic condition.
Its appeal is straightforward: the dedicated powered bass module gives Lifestyle systems more weight and impact than the compact main speakers can manage alone, while retaining the neat, integrated Bose presentation. The key is compatibility—this is worthwhile for someone completing or replacing a matching Lifestyle setup, rather than as a universal subwoofer for another brand. Confirm that it powers up, produces clean bass without hum or rattling, and includes the correct connection lead; at the median price, those checks matter.

Bose Corporation traces its roots to 1964, when MIT professor Amar Gopal Bose founded the company in Natick, Massachusetts, after growing disillusioned with the poor performance of a high-end stereo system he purchased as a graduate student. Driven by a passion for replicating the immersive qualities of live music through rigorous acoustic research, Bose launched the venture with initial contracts for the U.S. military and NASA, emphasizing innovative speaker designs that prioritized indirect, reverberant sound over direct radiation. This American heritage, rooted in psychoacoustics and engineering excellence, has defined the brand's pursuit of "Better Sound Through Research."
Bose excels in consumer and professional audio categories, renowned for its home audio systems, premium speakers like the iconic 901 Series, and pioneering noise-canceling headphones first prototyped in the 1980s for pilots. The lineup extends to vehicle sound systems, portable Bluetooth speakers, and professional installations, but steers clear of niche hi-fi components such as amplifiers, turntables, DACs, or cables, focusing instead on integrated, user-friendly solutions that blend advanced signal processing with spatial audio reproduction.
Positioned as a premium mid-tier powerhouse in the global market, Bose commands widespread appeal among discerning buyers seeking accessible high-performance audio without audiophile esoterica. Its reputation for innovation and reliability has built a loyal following, though purists occasionally critique its measured sound signature, cementing Bose as a dominant force in mainstream hi-fi rather than high-end boutique or vintage realms.
