The timing matters because the listing does not identify the generation or model, and Bose has sold several quite different wireless subwoofers over time. At €500, this is not a bargain against the 418-comparable market: it sits far above the €108 median and €182 75th percentile, so the price is ambitious unless this is a recent premium model with clear compatibility and complete accessories.
The appeal is genuine if it is a Bass Module 700 or newer Lifestyle Ultra subwoofer: Bose’s wireless integration is convenient, and the better models deliver clean, substantial movie bass without much setup fuss. But the exact model is decisive here. Confirm the rear label, compatible soundbar, wireless receiver, power cable and any pairing accessories, then test both wireless and wired operation if supported. Without that detail, €500 is difficult to justify; an older or unspecified Bose subwoofer should be priced much closer to the normal used market.

Bose Corporation traces its roots to 1964, when MIT professor Amar Gopal Bose founded the company in Natick, Massachusetts, after growing disillusioned with the poor performance of a high-end stereo system he purchased as a graduate student. Driven by a passion for replicating the immersive qualities of live music through rigorous acoustic research, Bose launched the venture with initial contracts for the U.S. military and NASA, emphasizing innovative speaker designs that prioritized indirect, reverberant sound over direct radiation. This American heritage, rooted in psychoacoustics and engineering excellence, has defined the brand's pursuit of "Better Sound Through Research."
Bose excels in consumer and professional audio categories, renowned for its home audio systems, premium speakers like the iconic 901 Series, and pioneering noise-canceling headphones first prototyped in the 1980s for pilots. The lineup extends to vehicle sound systems, portable Bluetooth speakers, and professional installations, but steers clear of niche hi-fi components such as amplifiers, turntables, DACs, or cables, focusing instead on integrated, user-friendly solutions that blend advanced signal processing with spatial audio reproduction.
Positioned as a premium mid-tier powerhouse in the global market, Bose commands widespread appeal among discerning buyers seeking accessible high-performance audio without audiophile esoterica. Its reputation for innovation and reliability has built a loyal following, though purists occasionally critique its measured sound signature, cementing Bose as a dominant force in mainstream hi-fi rather than high-end boutique or vintage realms.
