Seller's Description

My Mcintosh MX132 preamp is in very good cosmetic and electronic condition. There are a few nicks on the silver end pieces. Electronically, everything works fine, except the fluorescent display does not come on with the power button. Push the Trim button on the remote to the Display setting, then push either Level button, and the display lights up and works fine. The remote, power cord, manual copy and double boxes are included. $800 obo. Shipped or local pick up. The ad will be deleted when sold.

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

At US$800, this is a genuine bargain against the recent market: it sits well below the US$1,024 25th-percentile asking price and far under the US$1,300 median. Assuming it is functional, the discount is substantial enough to justify serious interest rather than routine haggling.

The MX132 remains appealing for a classic system because it combines McIntosh build quality, a capable analog preamp section, tuner, flexible source switching, and Dolby Digital/DTS/THX-era surround processing. Its analog stereo path and traditional controls are the real attraction; just remember that it is a 1999–2001, composite/S-video-era design, not a modern HDMI processor. At this price, confirm the remote is included if needed and test digital decoding, display, controls, and all channels—age-related power-supply and DSP faults can be costly.

About McIntosh
