Offered is „Passion PRE550 MKII Vorstufe & AMP650 Power Stereo Endstufe“ by YBA as exhibit from the category „Pre- / Poweramp Combination“ on audio-markt.de - the online market place for high-end. The advert with the number 3921922919 ends on 02.01.2027 at 16:35 o'clock.
This is an ambitious ask. At €6,995, it sits above the €6,400 75th-percentile asking price from 29 recent comparable listings, and is well clear of the €4,033 median. It is not automatically unreasonable for an especially complete, immaculate example, but the price needs strong justification rather than simply “good” condition.
The PRE550 MKII remains a serious, versatile preamp/DAC: it combines a warm, immediate YBA presentation with balanced and unbalanced connections, extensive digital inputs, dual AD1955 DACs, USB, and DSD64 support. The ability to disable the digital section for analogue listening is a useful touch. At this money, insist on the original remote, full accessory complement, clean operation across every input, and preferably service history; otherwise, there are better-value examples closer to the market median.

Founded in 1981 by Yves Bernard André, an electronics professor, YBA emerged from France as a beacon of passionate hi-fi innovation. André's designs embodied a quintessentially French flair—quirky yet brilliant—prioritizing simplicity, durability, and unadulterated musicality that captivated journalists and audiophiles alike. This heritage of precision and purity propelled the brand through decades of acclaim, earning international awards while steadfastly pursuing the ideal of sound so transparent it fades into the music itself.
YBA specializes in high-end electronics, with a core focus on amplifiers, preamplifiers, integrated amps, CD players, DACs, phono stages, and streaming devices across ranges like Design, Heritage, Passion, Signature, and Genesis. Custom French-made components such as connectors, transformers, cables, resistors, and solder underscore their commitment to reliability. While not delving into speakers, turntables, or headphones, their catalog emphasizes amplification and digital sources that deliver clarity and extraordinary musical engagement.
Positioned firmly in the high-end market, YBA blends boutique French design ethos with robust manufacturing scale, following Shanling's 2009 acquisition that preserved André's involvement and relaunched the brand internationally in 2012. Today, products remain "Designed in France, made with Passion," commanding respect among discerning buyers for their aesthetic appeal and sonic refinement, though production largely occurs in China. This evolution secures YBA's enduring niche as a sought-after name in premium hi-fi.
