Seller's Description

Mission 753 Floorstanding Loudspeakers Hi All,   I have for sale -- due to a recent upgrade -- a pair of Mission 753 (not Freedom) floor-standing speakers.   These are the speakers named in What Hi-Fi's Best 30 Speakers of its lifetime (https://www.whathifi.com/features/best-30-hi-fi-speakers-what-hi-fis-lifetime).   Considering their age, they are in good condition, fully working with no repairs required and still sound excellent.   I have the original boxes but would prefer not to ship -- so pick-up only.   Thanks for any interest,   -chris. Condition: Good Payment Method: cash on pickup Reg

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

This looks like a fair ask, maybe even a touch strong, for a clean pair in excellent condition. Mission 753s are a well-liked British floorstander with a lively, articulate balance, good imaging, and enough scale to work well in a medium-sized room; at AUD 900, you’re paying for a respected classic rather than a bargain-bin sleeper. If the cabinets, drivers, and grilles are truly excellent, the price sits in sensible territory for a used set in the current Australian market.

The real upside here is value-for-performance: these can sound open and engaging with decent amplification, and they’ve aged well if cared for properly. Excellent condition matters on a speaker this old, so look for intact surrounds, original tweeters, and no signs of water damage or veneer lifting. If all that checks out, this is a solid buy rather than a gamble.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Mission

Mission Electronics, a British hi-fi icon, was founded in 1977 by Farad Azima in the UK, rapidly emerging as a pioneer in acoustic engineering. Azima, a former audio importer and distributor, infused the brand with innovative drive, launching the revolutionary Mission 770 loudspeaker in 1978—the world's first with a commercial polypropylene bass unit. This debut set benchmarks for clarity and bass response, propelling Mission to prominence amid the golden era of British hi-fi.

The brand excels in loudspeakers across sectors, from seminal 1970s and 1980s models like the 770 to high-end masterpieces such as the 2001 Pilastro, Elegante, and SX series. Under Peter Comeau's acoustic leadership since 1999, Mission has expanded into hi-fi electronics, including amplifiers and home cinema systems, while maintaining an engineering-first ethos. Now part of the International Audio Group since 2005, with production in Shenzhen, it leverages advanced manufacturing for components like cables and turntable ancillaries, though speakers remain its core strength.

Mission holds mid-to-high-end status, revered by discerning buyers for award-winning performance—What Hi-Fi? Best Loudspeaker (2000, 2001), EISA Speaker of the Year (2001, 2003)—and timeless appeal. A management buyout refined its retail focus, positioning it as a reliable benchmark against pricier rivals, blending heritage innovation with accessible excellence for serious audiophiles.
