Seller's Description

PS Audio BHK PRE Pre Amplifier Just Arrived.    I have a wonderful PS Audio Pre-Amplifier.  The OP  consolidated into a DAC / Pre and streamer in one box. It has double box packaging, a remote control manual and a car sticker. Three Key Points  * US made designed by Baskin King. * 5 XLR and five single-ended inputs - you can choose either connector for each input *Volume control is a very high-quality potentiometer offering very good control.     Here are the specs from PS Audio - It's still a current model, too.  Purchased originally in 2022. https://www.psaudio.com/products/bhk-signature-pre

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

With the BHK Signature series still holding strong in 2026—no replacement model on the horizon—this listing's timing is solid, as these DACs remain sought-after for their balanced, analog-like warmth without feeling dated.

At AUD 5,687, it's ambitious against our recent comps for used PS Audio BHK DACs (median AUD 3,920, ranging AUD 3,660–4,180), pushing well above fair market unless it's pristine or modded; hold out for negotiation or better-conditioned alternatives. Check the power supply's condition first—BHKs can develop hum or instability from aging caps after 5–8 years—and verify full accessories like the remote, original PSU, and stock fuses are included, as partial kits tank resale value.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About PS Audio

PS Audio, a pioneering American hi-fi brand, traces its roots to 1973 when co-founder Paul McGowan launched the company in California alongside Stan Warren. Emerging from the analog golden age, it debuted with a standalone phono preamplifier, reflecting McGowan's early passion for vinyl playback honed through radio station connections and encounters with audio enthusiasts. The brand quickly evolved, embracing digital audio in the 1980s by releasing one of the first high-end CD players, the PS Audio CD-1, soon after Philips and Sony introduced the format.

Today, PS Audio specializes in premium electronics, including power amplifiers, preamplifiers, digital-to-analog converters (DACs), and integrated amplifiers, with a hallmark focus on power conditioning via innovative AC regenerators known as Power Plants. These devices, born from Stan Warren's mid-1980s discovery that oversized transformers enhance audio performance, remain a cornerstone. The lineup also encompasses digital lenses for refining streaming and disc playback, alongside select analog components, though it eschews speakers, headphones, turntables, or cables.

Positioned firmly in the high-end market, PS Audio commands respect among discerning audiophiles for its bold engineering and unwavering pursuit of musical purity. Celebrating 50 years in 2023, it occupies a niche as an innovator rather than a mass-market player, appealing to buyers who prioritize transformative power delivery and digital refinement in sophisticated systems.
