Seller's Description

PMC Speakers MB2SE Floorstanding Loudspeakers Sample of my PMC MB2SE speakers   These are massive and massively impressive speakers.   The PMC MB2SE is renowned as one of the best large-scale speakers PMC has produced. I am told that this speaker was loved at Carlton Audio and was the staff's favourite.   These speakers effortlessly delve into the depths of 20 Hz, delivering a rich and immersive sound experience. Their clear and impressive mids and uppers extend all the way up to 25 kHz, ensuring every note is heard with precision and clarity.   I have thoroughly enjoyed having these speakers

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

PMC’s MB2SE sits firmly in the serious end of the used-speaker ladder: big, highly resolving, and built for listeners who want scale and control more than flash. Against your local comps, A$21,599 is well above the 75th percentile of A$14,485, so this reads as ambitious rather than fair.

That said, if the pair is genuinely clean, complete, and well cared for, the appeal is obvious: these are reference-grade monitors that can do deep bass, superb imaging, and real-room authority with the right amp. For a buyer who already knows the model and wants to jump on a rarer set without chasing overseas stock, the upside is in condition and provenance more than price.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About PMC Speakers

PMC Speakers, founded in 1991 in the United Kingdom by BBC engineer Peter Thomas and FWO Bauch engineer Adrian Loader, emerged from a shared frustration with the limited options for accurate studio monitors. Dissatisfied with commercial speakers for both professional and home use, the duo developed proprietary transmission line technology in their garage, culminating in prototypes like the BB5—"Big Box"—quickly adopted by the BBC Maida Vale studios. Hand-built in their Luton factory, early models such as the active BB5-A and compact LB1 established PMC's heritage in precision engineering, blending broadcast expertise with a passion for uncolored music reproduction.

The brand focuses exclusively on loudspeakers, spanning professional studio monitors, high-end hi-fi systems, and compact domestic designs, all leveraging advanced transmission line bass loading for exceptional clarity and dynamics. From flagship mastering references to accessible home models, every cabinet undergoes rigorous matching to reference standards, ensuring structural integrity and component performance without venturing into amplifiers, DACs, turntables, headphones, or cables.

PMC commands a commanding reputation in the high-end market, reigning as the reference choice in elite studios like Metropolis Mastering, Capitol Studios, and broadcasters worldwide, including the BBC. Artists from Prince to Stevie Wonder and labels like Decca have relied on them, underscoring their dominance in professional audio while appealing to discerning hi-fi enthusiasts seeking studio-grade transparency at home.
