Offered is „LS 8/1 Derek Hughes Signature Edition“ by Graham Audio as new device from the category „Compact Speaker“ on audio-markt.de - the online market place for high-end. The advert with the number 8523524953 ends on 10.12.2026 at 06:25 o'clock.
Should you jump on a pair at €8,500, or is the seller asking top-tier money for a speaker that trades lower used? For this model, €8,500 is ambitious versus the used market: comparable second-hand listings have surfaced around €3,500, while a new pair has been shown at €6,500 and retail references sit roughly around €6,200 to €7,299 before stands in some cases. That puts this ask above the typical new/used overlap, so I’d want a very exceptional package to justify it.
What makes it tempting is that the speaker itself is highly regarded: a thin-wall, British-monitor-style design with 87dB sensitivity, 8-ohm load, and a reputation for scale, tone, and coherence that suits careful systems well. If this is truly immaculate, from an original owner, and includes the proper stands or other extras, there’s some upside — but at €8,500, I’d treat it as a premium ask rather than an easy buy.

Graham Audio, a family-owned British company founded in 2010 by Paul Graham, traces its roots to Devon in southwest England. With over two decades in professional audio—including recording, broadcasting, and live sound—Paul Graham sought to preserve the revered "BBC sound" as original monitors aged. After securing BBC permission, he revived these iconic designs from Newton Abbot, blending heritage with modern precision.
The brand specializes in hand-built monitor loudspeakers, notably BBC-licensed models like the LS3/5 and LS5/9. Using premium materials and contemporary components, Graham Audio crafts neutral, transparent speakers suited for studios, home listening rooms, and even prestigious venues such as the Royal Opera House. Their focus remains exclusively on these high-fidelity loudspeakers, eschewing amplifiers, turntables, or other categories.
Positioned as a niche boutique in the high-end market, Graham Audio commands respect among discerning audiophiles for authenticity and performance. Operating from a modest farmhouse, the small team delivers revealing sound that rivals modern rivals while honoring mid-20th-century engineering, appealing to collectors and professionals who prioritize realism over flash.
