Our Thoughts RADAR AI

Unknown condition makes this harder to fully endorse, but at €399 it’s clearly above the typical used market for these Mission 2-way speakers: that sits well over the €275 median and above the €326 75th percentile, so I’d call it ambitious rather than fair. Unless this pair is exceptionally clean, fully original, and comes with stands, grills, or a strong provenance, there isn’t much pricing cushion here.

That said, Mission 2-way models are popular for a reason: they tend to give lively, well-balanced sound with good image focus and easy room-filling scale for the size. If the drivers are original, surrounds are healthy, and both speakers are matched and cosmetic condition is strong, they can still be a very worthwhile listen. At this price, though, I’d want clear photos and confirmation they’re working perfectly before paying up.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Mission

Mission Electronics, a British hi-fi icon, was founded in 1977 by Farad Azima in the UK, rapidly emerging as a pioneer in acoustic engineering. Azima, a former audio importer and distributor, infused the brand with innovative drive, launching the revolutionary Mission 770 loudspeaker in 1978—the world's first with a commercial polypropylene bass unit. This debut set benchmarks for clarity and bass response, propelling Mission to prominence amid the golden era of British hi-fi.

The brand excels in loudspeakers across sectors, from seminal 1970s and 1980s models like the 770 to high-end masterpieces such as the 2001 Pilastro, Elegante, and SX series. Under Peter Comeau's acoustic leadership since 1999, Mission has expanded into hi-fi electronics, including amplifiers and home cinema systems, while maintaining an engineering-first ethos. Now part of the International Audio Group since 2005, with production in Shenzhen, it leverages advanced manufacturing for components like cables and turntable ancillaries, though speakers remain its core strength.

Mission holds mid-to-high-end status, revered by discerning buyers for award-winning performance—What Hi-Fi? Best Loudspeaker (2000, 2001), EISA Speaker of the Year (2001, 2003)—and timeless appeal. A management buyout refined its retail focus, positioning it as a reliable benchmark against pricier rivals, blending heritage innovation with accessible excellence for serious audiophiles.
