Seller's Description

The Mission 734 Floor Standing Speakers are a refined blend of performance, style, and engineering precision, designed to deliver an immersive listening experience for both music lovers and home theatre enthusiasts. Featuring a sleek, modern cabinet with a premium finish, these speakers not only sound exceptional but also complement a wide range of interior spaces.

At the heart of the Mission 734 is a carefully tuned multi-driver configuration, engineered to produce rich, detailed sound across the full frequency spectrum. The dedicated bass drivers deliver deep, controlled low-end response, while the midrange driver ensures clear, natural vocals and instruments. The high-frequency tweeter adds crispness and sparkle, bringing out subtle details in every track.

Mission’s signature inverted driver geometry enhances time alignment, improving stereo imaging and creating a more cohesive, lifelike soundstage. Whether you’re listening to delicate acoustic recordings or high-energy movie soundtracks, the 734 speakers maintain clarity and balance even at higher volumes.

Built with rigid cabinet construction to minimize unwanted resonance, the Mission 734 ensures clean, distortion-free audio. Gold-plated binding posts provide reliable connectivity and compatibility with a wide range of amplifiers and AV receivers.

Ideal for medium to large rooms, the Mission 734 Floor Standing Speakers offer a powerful yet refined audio experience, making them a standout choice for anyone looking to elevate their sound system with both performance and elegance.

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

For a vintage Mission floorstander, timing matters because you’re buying an older design rather than a current-market replacement, so price should reflect age and condition more than original ambition. At A$900, this sits on the firm side of fair and only looks good if the speakers are exceptionally clean, fully original, and locally easy to audition; if comparable examples usually trade a bit lower, I’d call A$900 a touch ambitious rather than a bargain.

That said, Mission’s classic 734-era speakers are well liked for lively, open mids and a smooth, easy-to-enjoy presentation that still works well in real rooms. If the drivers are intact, the cabinets are tidy, and the stands/packing are included, it can be a satisfying buy for someone after that classic British hi-fi balance. I’d just want confirmation on foam/surround condition, tweeter health, and whether the pair has been recapped or left original.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Mission

Mission Electronics, a British hi-fi icon, was founded in 1977 by Farad Azima in the UK, rapidly emerging as a pioneer in acoustic engineering. Azima, a former audio importer and distributor, infused the brand with innovative drive, launching the revolutionary Mission 770 loudspeaker in 1978—the world's first with a commercial polypropylene bass unit. This debut set benchmarks for clarity and bass response, propelling Mission to prominence amid the golden era of British hi-fi.

The brand excels in loudspeakers across sectors, from seminal 1970s and 1980s models like the 770 to high-end masterpieces such as the 2001 Pilastro, Elegante, and SX series. Under Peter Comeau's acoustic leadership since 1999, Mission has expanded into hi-fi electronics, including amplifiers and home cinema systems, while maintaining an engineering-first ethos. Now part of the International Audio Group since 2005, with production in Shenzhen, it leverages advanced manufacturing for components like cables and turntable ancillaries, though speakers remain its core strength.

Mission holds mid-to-high-end status, revered by discerning buyers for award-winning performance—What Hi-Fi? Best Loudspeaker (2000, 2001), EISA Speaker of the Year (2001, 2003)—and timeless appeal. A management buyout refined its retail focus, positioning it as a reliable benchmark against pricier rivals, blending heritage innovation with accessible excellence for serious audiophiles.
