Our Thoughts RADAR AI

€120 is a good buy here: it sits below the €150 median and comfortably inside the lower half of the market, so this is priced better than average without being a fire-sale. With the 25th percentile at €81 and the 75th at €300, it lands in the value zone rather than the premium end.

That makes it attractive for a compact active sub from a respected German hi-fi brand, especially in excellent condition. The upside is straightforward: if it’s healthy, you’re getting a capable, room-filling bass addition at a sensible entry price, and the nice condition reduces the usual used-buy uncertainty. I’d still confirm the amp powers up cleanly and the driver is free of noise or rubbing, but at €120 this reads as a sensible enthusiast buy.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Canton

Canton traces its roots to 1972, when four hi-fi enthusiasts—Hubert Milbers, Otfried Sandig, Wolfgang Seitkritt, and Günther Seitz—founded the company in the small German town of Weilrod, near Frankfurt. Registering the name as a blend of the Latin "cantare" (to sing) and German "Ton" (musical tone), they began operations in a repurposed village schoolhouse with 35 employees assembling speaker enclosures. Still family-owned and led by descendants like Günther Seitz, Canton embodies enduring German engineering precision, manufacturing primarily in Niederlauken and Weilrod.

The brand focuses squarely on loudspeakers, offering over 300 models across 12 series tailored to diverse budgets, room sizes, and applications—from compact bookshelf designs and the pioneering 1979 sub/sat system to high-end Reference lines and wireless innovations. While speakers dominate, Canton also produces complementary hi-fi components, blending traditional cabinetry with digital amplification advancements, all subjected to rigorous quality controls.

Positioned as a mid-to-high-end mainstay in the global hi-fi market, Canton commands respect for its "pure music" philosophy, exporting to 53 countries with a reputation for reliable, elegant performance that appeals to discerning buyers seeking value without compromise. Independent of corporate conglomerates, it remains a smart, appreciating investment for audiophiles valuing Made-in-Germany craftsmanship.
