Oyaide Electric traces its roots to 1952, when founder Kazuji Oyaide (also referred to as Katsuji Oyaide) opened a modest electrical wires shop in Tokyo's Akihabara district. Initially focused on magnet wires and industrial cables, the company incorporated in 1971 and pivoted fully to specialty wires by the mid-1970s, abandoning home appliance sales amid Japan's economic boom. A pivotal shift came in the 1980s, spurred by audio critic Saburo Egawa's insights on wire quality, leading to Oyaide's first audio products like the OR-800 speaker cable and OCB-1 power distribution box.

Oyaide specializes in high-performance audio cables and accessories, including interconnects, speaker cables, power cords, distribution blocks, connectors, and turntable components. Under presidents Satoru Murayama from 2000 and later Naoko Murayama, the brand expanded through strategic partnerships with expert manufacturers, emphasizing oxygen-free copper litz structures and precision engineering—all made in Japan.

Renowned among audiophiles for meticulous craftsmanship and the "genuine Japanese spirit," Oyaide occupies a solid niche in the mid-tier to upper-mid market, offering reliable upgrades without extravagant pricing.
