Oppo UDP-205 Blu-ray Player Selling this player that needs no introduction of its design, made and feature known to audiophiles. (see photo attached for specification) Purchased and used in Sydney (a media room) for one and half year before being relocated to Queensland in 2022 pending a new media room which has never eventuated. Had the last firmware upgrade in Feb 2019 and also a Linear Power Supply (LPS) from S. Korea replacing the original working power supply unit in 9/2020. All original accessories, original Power Supply Unit and the Player are still in the original packing box since 202
A$2,900 is fair-to-strong for an UDP-205, and it’s not a crazy ask in today’s secondhand market. With the player originally at A$1,299 and current used listings often landing around the low-to-mid A$3,000s, this sits a little under the going rate rather than at a bargain-basement level.
That still makes it a worthwhile buy if it’s clean and fully working, because the 205 is prized for its excellent disc performance, reference-level DAC section, and all-round universal-player flexibility for SACD, DVD-A, CD, Blu-ray, and 4K UHD duties. The big upside is scarcity: Oppo is long out of the disc-player game, so a well-kept unit with the remote, box, and any accessories is the kind of purchase people hold onto. If condition is vague, I’d verify HDMI stability, tray operation, analog outputs, and whether it includes the remote and power lead.
