Oppo UDP-205 Blu-ray Player Selling this player which needs no introduction of its design, made and feature known to audiophiles. (see photo attached for specification) Purchased and used in Sydney (a media room) for one and half year before relocated to Queensland in 2022 pending a new media room which has never eventuated. Had the last firmware upgrade in Feb 2019 and also a Linear Power Supply (LPS) from S. Korea replacing the original working power supply unit in 9/2020. For a UDP-205, that asks sits slightly below the going used level I’d expect in Australia, with recent AU listings clustering around about A$2,900 to A$3,800 depending on condition and provenance, so this reads as fair to mildly strong rather than cheap.
That’s still a worthwhile buy because the 205 is one of the most respected universal disc players ever made: superb video handling, excellent CD/SACD/DVD-A playback, and very serious DAC sections that many people keep it for even after the video side becomes secondary. The real upside is if it’s a clean, complete unit with remote, original packaging, and no signs of transport noise or tray issues; at this price, those details matter more than any spec sheet.
