At €69, this is a strong deal: it sits below the €79 25th-percentile mark and well under the €90 median from the two recent comparable listings. For a working Bose PS18 III in good condition, that is bargain territory rather than merely a fair price.
The PS18 III is the powered bass module used in Bose Lifestyle systems, offering compact, room-friendly low-end and straightforward integration with compatible Bose media consoles. It is especially worthwhile if you already own the matching Lifestyle equipment, since the system’s speaker-specific equalisation and AdaptIQ calibration are part of what makes the package perform properly. Check that the correct 9-pin mini-DIN audio cable and figure-eight power lead are included, and confirm it powers up cleanly; otherwise, €69 leaves generous room for a minor accessory purchase.

Bose Corporation traces its roots to 1964, when MIT professor Amar Gopal Bose founded the company in Natick, Massachusetts, after growing disillusioned with the poor performance of a high-end stereo system he purchased as a graduate student. Driven by a passion for replicating the immersive qualities of live music through rigorous acoustic research, Bose launched the venture with initial contracts for the U.S. military and NASA, emphasizing innovative speaker designs that prioritized indirect, reverberant sound over direct radiation. This American heritage, rooted in psychoacoustics and engineering excellence, has defined the brand's pursuit of "Better Sound Through Research."
Bose excels in consumer and professional audio categories, renowned for its home audio systems, premium speakers like the iconic 901 Series, and pioneering noise-canceling headphones first prototyped in the 1980s for pilots. The lineup extends to vehicle sound systems, portable Bluetooth speakers, and professional installations, but steers clear of niche hi-fi components such as amplifiers, turntables, DACs, or cables, focusing instead on integrated, user-friendly solutions that blend advanced signal processing with spatial audio reproduction.
Positioned as a premium mid-tier powerhouse in the global market, Bose commands widespread appeal among discerning buyers seeking accessible high-performance audio without audiophile esoterica. Its reputation for innovation and reliability has built a loyal following, though purists occasionally critique its measured sound signature, cementing Bose as a dominant force in mainstream hi-fi rather than high-end boutique or vintage realms.
