The age and generation matter here: Silver Night 300B monoblocks descend from a long-running design, with several versions differing substantially in output and circuit topology. At £3,999, this is clearly ambitious against the supplied market: the median is £1,207 and even the 75th percentile is £2,468. It needs to be a particularly desirable Anniversary, Push-Pull, or PSE version in exceptional condition to justify that premium.
The appeal is real: 300B operation, Class A purity, strong midband presence, speed and dimensionality are the reasons these remain sought after. The higher-powered versions can also deliver useful bass grip and dynamics, while auto-biasing on some models keeps ownership straightforward. Before considering the price, establish the exact variant, valve complement, service history, transformer condition, and whether original or premium 300B valves are included. Without that detail, this looks more like a collector-priced ask than a convincing buying opportunity.
Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.
Audion is a British hi-fi brand founded in 1987, with roots in the UK tube-audio scene. It was established by David Chessell, working with designer Erik Anderson, after their experience around Audio Innovations. The company emerged with a clear mission: to make serious valve amplification more accessible without losing the qualities that appeal to audiophiles.
The brand is best known for tube amplifiers, especially integrated and power amps, with a strong emphasis on single-ended and no-feedback designs. Audion’s early identity was built around compact, purist amplification rather than a broad catalog of source components or loudspeakers. It is not primarily known for turntables, DACs, headphones, or cables.
In the market, Audion sits firmly in the niche boutique-to-high-end end of the spectrum, appealing to buyers who value classic valve sound, hand-built engineering, and British hi-fi heritage. It is more specialist than mainstream, with a reputation tied to musicality, transparency, and traditional tube craftsmanship rather than mass-market versatility.
