Recent comparable PH 9.0 listings center at US$2,674, with the lower quartile at US$2,617 and the upper quartile at US$2,779. At US$2,559, this sits below the 25th percentile—a genuinely strong deal if the unit is complete and operational, rather than merely an average price.
The PH 9.0 is a particularly capable tube phono stage: its separate power supply, quiet presentation, adjustable gain, and broad MC loading make it unusually adaptable, while the sound combines tube liquidity with excellent clarity and control. Separate MM and MC inputs are useful for multiple arms or turntables. Since the listing gives little condition detail, confirm that the external supply, umbilical, four tubes, and any original accessories are included; otherwise, this is a compelling entry point for a well-regarded, flexible vinyl front end.
Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.
ModWright Instruments is an American hi-fi brand founded in 2000 by Dan Wright, who remains the company’s founder and chief designer. The company is based in Amboy, Washington, and began as a modification outfit for digital audio products before evolving into a full component manufacturer.
Today, ModWright is best known for high-end tube and hybrid electronics, especially preamplifiers, phono stages, power amplifiers, headphone amplifiers, and DACs. Its product line also includes some solid-state amplification, but the brand’s identity is rooted in analog-friendly, meticulously voiced components rather than loudspeakers, turntables, or accessories.
In the market, ModWright sits firmly in the high-end, niche-boutique segment. Its reputation is built on handcrafted build quality, a strong tube-audio aesthetic, and a “musical” presentation that appeals to experienced listeners looking for refinement and character rather than mass-market convenience.
