A €7,990 ask sits above the median but still below the 75th percentile, so this reads as a slightly ambitious but not outlandish listing rather than a bargain or a stretch. Against the obvious alternative of waiting for a cleaner mid-market example around €7,206, you’re paying about €784 more than median, which is a meaningful premium but not a red flag.
What makes it worth a look is the amp itself: ModWright’s power amps are generally valued for strong current delivery, a big, composed presentation, and a refined but muscular sound that suits real-world speakers well. If the unit is genuinely well kept and complete, the upside is getting a respected high-end stereo amp without chasing dealer-new pricing; just verify service history, cosmetics, and that any original accessories or packaging are included, since those matter more once a listing is pricing above the middle of the market.
Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.
ModWright Instruments is an American hi-fi brand founded in 2000 by Dan Wright, who remains the company’s founder and chief designer. The company is based in Amboy, Washington, and began as a modification outfit for digital audio products before evolving into a full component manufacturer.
Today, ModWright is best known for high-end tube and hybrid electronics, especially preamplifiers, phono stages, power amplifiers, headphone amplifiers, and DACs. Its product line also includes some solid-state amplification, but the brand’s identity is rooted in analog-friendly, meticulously voiced components rather than loudspeakers, turntables, or accessories.
In the market, ModWright sits firmly in the high-end, niche-boutique segment. Its reputation is built on handcrafted build quality, a strong tube-audio aesthetic, and a “musical” presentation that appeals to experienced listeners looking for refinement and character rather than mass-market convenience.
