Seller's Description

Virtually brand new Oppo UDP 205 for sale. This is in excellent/VIRTUALLY mint condition in original packaging and with bag, remote and manual. This has barely had 6 DVDs and a few CDs played from new. It has spent the last 5 years in its box in a nice warm centrally heated non-smoking home.

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

Three recent comparable listings put the UDP-205’s asking-price median at £2,025, with the upper quartile at £2,210. At £2,500, this is therefore an ambitious ask rather than a bargain, sitting clearly above the established used-market range even allowing for excellent condition.

That said, the UDP-205 remains a genuinely special all-in-one player: superb CD, SACD, DVD-A and 4K Blu-ray playback, a highly regarded dual-ESS DAC section, balanced XLR stereo outputs, 7.1 analogue connectivity, USB/network playback and a capable headphone stage. Its rarity and discontinued status support a premium, but £2,500 needs unusually strong provenance—original remote and accessories, flawless disc loading, quiet operation and ideally documented ownership. For a buyer, £2,100–£2,200 would look much more convincing.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Oppo

Oppo Digital, the audiophile arm of the Chinese electronics giant Oppo, traces its roots to 2004 with the establishment of its U.S. division in Menlo Park, California. This overseas outpost of the Dongguan-based parent company, founded amid BBK Electronics' expansion under entrepreneur Duan Yongping, focused on high-fidelity audio and video gear sold exclusively online. From humble beginnings in MP3 players and DVD units, it carved a niche in premium home entertainment during the Blu-ray era.

The brand specialized in personal audio and video equipment, gaining acclaim for Blu-ray Disc players renowned for superior sound quality, sleek design, and robust performance. Entering the personal audio market in 2014, Oppo offered headphones and related products that emphasized precision playback, though it never delved deeply into traditional hi-fi categories like amplifiers, speakers, turntables, DACs, or cables.

Oppo Digital held a strong mid-to-high-end position among discerning buyers, prized for reliable, value-driven excellence in digital playback before ceasing operations around 2020. Its legacy endures as a benchmark for accessible audiophile gear, appealing to enthusiasts seeking polished integration of video and sound without boutique excess.
