€62 is a fair asking price—exactly the recent comparable median, not a bargain but certainly not inflated.
The main appeal is the Neumann/Tesla provenance: a proper input transformer can be a useful, characterful front-end component in a tube project, especially where impedance matching and galvanic isolation matter. That said, the title does not identify the exact transformer type, ratio, winding impedances, or tested condition, and “for parts” makes those details decisive. Ask for clear photos of the markings and terminals, plus resistance and insulation checks before buying. At this price it makes sense for an enthusiast who can measure and build around it; it is less compelling as a blind plug-and-play purchase.
Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.
Neumann traces its origins to Berlin, Germany, where Georg Neumann and Erich Rickmann founded the company in 1928. Initially focused on pioneering condenser microphones, such as the groundbreaking CMV 3—nicknamed "The Bottle"—Neumann quickly established itself as an innovator amid the early days of professional audio. Despite wartime disruptions that split production and led to the creation of Microtech Gefell, Georg Neumann rebuilt in post-war Berlin, launching the iconic U 47 tube-condenser microphone, which solidified the brand's legacy in recording history.
The brand specializes in professional recording equipment, renowned for its high-end condenser microphones like the U 47, U 67, and U 87, which dominate studios worldwide. Beyond mics, Neumann produces studio monitors, headphones, preamplifiers, audio interfaces such as the recent MT 48, and historically excelled in cutting lathes for mastering. This pro-audio emphasis sets it apart from consumer hi-fi categories like amplifiers, turntables, or cables.
Neumann commands an elite position in the market as the gold standard for professional recording, embodying precision engineering and unmatched fidelity prized by engineers and producers. Its products grace legendary sessions, blending vintage reverence with modern reliability, making it essential for discerning hi-fi enthusiasts seeking studio-grade accuracy rather than mid-tier or boutique consumer gear.
