This is a buyer’s market at this level: A$65 sits just above the A$66 median and well below the A$164 75th percentile, so it reads as a fair-to-good buy rather than a bargain-bin steal. Given the small spread around the median, there’s no need to haggle hard unless similar units are sitting cheaper locally.
That makes sense for a well-liked portable dongle DAC/amp: the appeal is simple, clean power from a compact package, with enough performance to be a meaningful step up from motherboard or phone audio. The real value here is convenience and reputation, especially if it’s a tidy, lightly used unit with the cable intact and no intermittent USB issues.

Moondrop emerged in 2015 from Chengdu Shuiyueyu Technology Co., Ltd., a Chinese firm founded by a team of audio engineers passionate about high-fidelity sound. Rooted in the burgeoning Chi-Fi scene, the brand quickly distinguished itself through industrial design, technological innovation, and collaborations with research labs, blending artistry with acoustic precision to challenge established norms in personal audio.
The company specializes in portable audio gear, with a core focus on in-ear monitors (IEMs), earphones featuring dynamic drivers and balanced armatures, earbuds, and custom models. It has expanded into headphones, digital DAC/AMP units, smart audio equipment, and even ACGN-themed accessories, while maintaining a reputation for software integration and consistent tuning aligned with the Harman target curve for broad appeal.
Moondrop holds a commanding position as Chi-Fi's most successful IEM maker, excelling in the mid-tier market with exceptional value—delivering neutral, detailed sound that rivals pricier rivals without compromising quality. Its consistency, aggressive pricing, and cult following among enthusiasts solidify it as a go-to for discerning buyers seeking performance over prestige.
