Buyer’s market for this piece. At £400, this is a strong deal versus the current used benchmark: well below the £761 25th percentile and a fraction of the £3,364 median, so it reads as bargain territory rather than merely fair.
That’s especially appealing if you want the classic Naim-style upgrade path without paying full box-for-box money. These power supplies are valued for tightening up drive, scale, and tonal grip, and the pairing with the companion unit makes it more interesting for a matching system. At this price, the upside is straightforward: if it’s genuinely working cleanly and the connectors are right for your setup, it’s the kind of buy that can deliver a lot of audible gain per pound.

ASR Audio Systems, based in Herborn, Germany, traces its roots to 1980 when Friedrich Schäfer founded the company, initially as ASR Audio Systeme Friedrich Schäfer. Schäfer, who remains the owner and chief designer, established the brand with a focus on meticulous engineering from the outset. By 1995, it had solidified under its current name, building a heritage of handcrafted components that prioritize sonic purity and longevity.
The brand specializes in high-end amplifiers, including iconic models like the Emitter I and II, which continue to anchor its catalog decades later. ASR's lineup emphasizes power amplifiers and integrated solutions known for their robust construction and dynamic performance, eschewing broader categories such as speakers, turntables, DACs, headphones, or cables.
ASR holds a revered position in the high-end hi-fi market as a niche boutique manufacturer, celebrated among audiophiles for exceptional sound characteristics and technical excellence. Its products command loyalty from discerning buyers seeking uncolored, impactful reproduction, often drawing comparisons to top-tier systems in showrooms worldwide.
